July 25th. Year Week!!!

Well i hope you all had a great pioneer day! been reading dads books and it has made me think a little bit more about the sacrifice that our 43 ancestors made for us to get to the salt lake valley. be thankful for what you have!

so this week has been eventufull.. i didnt get changed neither did my companion. i have mixed feelings about it. but we will see how things work out really. im having a great time out here and getting along with the members more as the days go by. we have this one family who takes us in when ever and they feed us. they have a little cute girl who were good friends, and always is asking her mom when im coming over.. funny stuff... this week not a whole lot happend. ellections are going on here. so everyone is all in a uproar for that. here is a little diffrent. there are 8 political parties all going for the spot of president. weird but yeah. they bribe people like no other like go around giving food out and t-shirts and what not. i guess if it works then ya do it.

had the oportunity yesterday to go out on divisions with a member to get to know more of the members in the other area. was a good expirence and we had a good lesson. i enjoyed after talking to him about his mission and how people are. we have come to realize the more dissobedient missionaries tend to baptize more.. interesting stuff. not saying im going to pull a 180 and change or anything but was interesting.

were on the hunt out here for more people to teach. everyday were learning new ways to contact people. for example random house... ''comp give me a random name!, ummm rodrigo. we then follow with knocking on the door and asking if they know anyone with the name we give eachother then start small talk with them. eventually tie it in to the gospel and what were doing a long way from our houses. its really funny to see what people do and how they react. we gave a name and a person actually knew some one by that name... uhhhh. yeah was aquard.

so other than that nothing really is going on here. im enjoying this time i have here in this area. love my mission! we have interviews with president this week and that should be cool to see him. i havnt seen him in about a month now..

year mark this week. thats cool. i talked members into making me something for that day. i think a cake or something. but i have to make a cake for the sister for her birthday on the 5th. so we will see what goes down. im afraid for this next year. i hear time goes by faster your second year... this year went by super fast... and now its going to be faster. i gotta get my rear in gear and work harder. ill have time to rest when i get home...

thanks for the letters and emails!! i love you guys!

July 18th

well this week was a good week. we are finding many people to teach. many positive things are happening out here. so lets start off...

termites in the house.... thousands of them randomly one morning decided to come in to our house for a snack. it was gross... does my comp want to tell our landlord.. no... they havnt come back yet. so we will see. if my comp has a change im going to speak with him.but yeah.

yesterday church was alright. i was following with my duties of rounding up the kids for primary and such. its really hard work and they do what ever the freak they want. church here is really different. kids run like wild animals.

my ´´calling´´ primary. i sit in and make sure things are going smoothly and such. this one kid was punching me and kicking me and laying on my lap... it was ANNOYING and i almost got to the point of snapping but held back. other than that church was alright it was good for the most part.

so yesterday also we got to a members house . when we got there she got a call.. apparently we walked past a body in three black trash bags... umm yeah this area is fairly safe for that matter. umm yeah i feel safe here.

also this week it rained big time.... we stayed at our lunch appointment for 3 hours because the streets have 6 inches of watter... sucked walking home. but we eventually made it home in a pause of the rain.

so also in this week is changes i find out that if i have the opportuninty to have changes or not. its a little scarry but im alright if i stay. im planning on it really. things here are great and wouldnt like to leave this area. although there is someone i would like to have a change... my comp. hes been a little difficult to live with for the past 3 weeks. everything good with us but there are always the little things that eat me up... dirty dishes for instance.

today im making rice crispy treats for some members so that will be a little happiness for today. im also playing soccer with the little kids today. so that should be fun. i have cleats so it was a great success. 2 goals! haha.

looking forward to this next week though. were working hard. and going to keep up the pace really!

well thats my week in a nutshell...  i love you guys send me a box! candy!! i want candy peanutbutter peanutbutter M&MS!!!! or the PRETZLE M&MS go for it friends and family

i was chosen to teach my favorite class... primary.. the freaking kids are worse then in the states! sucked. i scolded them for going to buy food from a tienda. or store... it was a good expirence but will they change their minds... no.. and there still little brats... so what else happend...

we had an activity this week. we had a paca gratis... we got not refernces and such... it tanked this week... but thats whats up.. win some and loose some!!

so yesterday we had a bomb lesson with this teenager that we re activated!!! this kid is really getting into the church and is preparing to go on a mission. he wants to bring in his friends to the church! so were hoping for that too! more progression... well that was my week not much happend.. that was it.

July 4th

well this week was really just a normal week. sorry nothing really good went down. we had a bat enter our house. and at 1030 my comp came in right as i was falling asleep and said hey there is a bat. so i killed it with a broom and swept it out before going to bed. never herd a latino scream like a little girl before. ha ha...

after that the day after another time of hearing him scream like a little girl. we were leaving the capilla. church, and an iguana fell off the roof. and our branch president. a heavier guy, ran after it. well we caught it tapped the mouth shut and then he took it home. free lunch. and mana from god. what a blessing!! well it was a good time out here.

this week we possibly have the oportunity to baptize an investigator! im hoping for it! so we will see on sunday. hope everything goes through... sorry for this weeks eamil... sucks...
today we played sports and had brown dowgs for breakfast out here in honnor of the 4 of july! we sang o beautiful and the national anthem. the latinos thought we were crazy! but its what ever really. things out here are alright im enjoying life. question. how many boxes should i be getting i got another one with the insouls and candy which is a blessing from above!! is there a 3rd? that would be cool if yeah and if not im good. you can always send over some more stuff like BLUEBERRY MUFFIN MIXES! or stuff like that. candy and what not!

well have a great 4 of july!

June 27th part 2

well the power did go out here... but i had just enough time in my generator box to send off the first email.

so as i said not to much happend this week... im half way through the change wow how fast does time go out here. im at 11 months now tormorrow. (not counting down) and things are going good. me and my comp have been finding familys this last week we contacted about 4 familys boosting our stats up! were hoping to have a little bit of success with that this month of july.

so i hear summer is starting up there and that all is going well... i was sick for a day but things are looking out for me here! so our house is infront of a mom and pop resturant. or here they say comedor. so every day what to i eat??? STEAK! dont know if its the best thing for me to be eating but its delicious!! im not gaining weight. maybe i need the protien out here. but its awesome!

hmmmm not alot more happened or that i can think of to write. sorry for a lame week. this week were travling for a 2 zone conference. so that should be sum what cool. i love hearing from my mission president! hes a really cool guy! well thats all for now love ya guys

be sure to email me this week!!

Elder Crockett

June 27th part 1

well this week not to much happend... im  kinda lame out here in the mission and not have a who lot to tell this week....  our power just went out so this may be a 2part email this week to get something out before im out of power.

so story for the week. yesterday we had district conferance (like stake conference) at had an area 70 come!Elder Martino. hes from texas. it was really cool what he talked about. first about baptism, how christ is at the door at times and we need to let him in to our lives. then he talked about NOE. what does that stand for noe is noah in spanish but also

N- noche de hogar  or family home evening

O- Orar  family prayers

E- Escrituras or Scriptures

and Diezmo or tithing but that doesnt work with this acronym... ha ha

with these three things we can strengthen our family and live a better life. he also touched basis on missionary work! how every member is a missionary and its our duty to share our happiness or gospel with others. really was a great talk wish you could of herd it.surely opened my eyes to more things on life and such!

well ill gotta go write more later

June 20th

well... this week was a little more eventfull than the last week. what happend here. welll we started off with a tri-zone confrence where our mission president gave us constructive critsism. it was cool i guess. just like those Jeffery R holland mtc talks. he came out with a new and improved one ha ha... but yeah. things are great here...
after this confernce i had the oportunity to go on divisions with another elder. there we committed 2 people to baptism! was great.
so i did end up getting a package here. i got dads books!!  yeah i know dads books what excitement... no you dont really know untill you start reading them. way to go dad with writing them. there are a few missionaries our here jealous about my dad. they say he runs 100 milers write books... what more does he do? haha but im about 100 pages into it. lets just say after my mission i want to go back to the church sites and see what i have been reading about.
so the story of the week....
we headed out to go talk to our investigators and were walking down this road about 2 miles if not more. and finally get to their house. there we talk and teach a little bit about the plan of salvation and all that jargon. cool stuff... well on the way back we get a ride from a pastor. he invited us into the truck and pretty much bashed us. telling us our religion is (a bad word) and that were of the devil. i asked him a question that he couldnt answer.. where did you get your authority? couldnt answer that question. BAM! i know where i got mine.. but thats not the story.
so the road we walked down 10 minutes after we passed or walked on this road a drive by happend. 3 people got capped.! wow imagine if we were running 10 minutes late. this big white blinding glare of a person (ME) would be a prime target. well lets just say im not going back there... scary stuff...
yesterday we herd even more gun shots. i make sure before i leave to say a prayer of saftey here... ha ha

well thats the week in a nut shell... today nothing much is going down. going to buy food. and sleep some more... thats about it. a agentine elder is making us food tonight at a members so that should be fun!! yay

welll have a good one i love you all keep sending me goodies.
send me some candy!
elder crockett

June 13th

well yes i had trasfers. so this is how they do them out here. they call us up on tuesday and tell us well elder crockett you have changes pack up and be at this place at 7 in the morning to get a ride in to Reu. did just that. i have to much crap! i need to liquadate some things. so thats my goal for this next change. so i went all the way to reu about an hour1/2 drive in a small bus filled with sweaty hot missionaries! then after i got there i chatted with friends. i was out of the hot inferno zone.. well at least i thought. the meeting came and then the presitention came. they do a slide show style change. they display 2 pictures take one away then show who is going there next. well basically all the zones went by and my old zone was left. i was being sent back in the the hottest zone.
im now in nuevo conseption. its the 2and hottest area in the mission. dont know what i did to deserve this oven of an area ... but im going to be loosing weight. so we loaded up the bus again and headed out. there was one thing that made me happy. we stopped at taco bell once again. this time i was smart and bought a little extra for a future breakfast!! yeah!! so that made the trip worth it. but its a little weird being in the same zone as your last comp. but o well. i learned alot from my last 6 weeks. im guessing ill be here for another 4 months. so i will never look like i did when i left. i may come home a skinny kid. ha ha maybe.
things i have learned in this area. Hitch hiking! saves money! ha ha. this area is really cool (not temperature wise) people wise. we actually have a chapel and not a make shift building. thats a bounus!
My companion is from Honduras. his accent is awesome. they dont say there S in there words. so im trying not to pick up that habbit. its what ever though. i havnt gotten my packages. and another note for future letters to me  WRITE Elder RYAN Crockett. there is another elder crockett here and i have been hearing stories how hes been getting some of my mail. that i havnt gotten them and most likely wont!! makes me mad. so write RYAN on your letter if not Ryan Robert no shame in using my middle name!!

well family i gotta head out. we have to clean our house. we found a baby snake in it last night. so were making sure there isnt a momma snake in the house. so that will be fun! yay.  well write me letters send me packages!! candy!! doesnt have to be big at all! i love you guys and am working on a box of goods soon!

June 6

well today i find out if i have changes or not.so you will all have to wait till next week to hear about that. this past week has been a good week. i have enjoyed puking again... 创wow elder your always sick!创 no freaking duh. like i didnt know. people here are really odd. but thats alright i still love them. along with me being sick and such im doing alright.we had 2 activities this week.
1 a paca gratis. what is this. well we went to all the pacas (they sell clothes that they buy from the state by the pound) and ask for clothes. we ended up with 30 trash bags full for the zone. from there we divided it up. we basically gave all the clothes away to everyone and got about 15 refrences. so we have some work to do here. will all be good.
2. we had a good morning side by a near by river. man it was beautiful! and i wish i could of jumped in it. wasnt a dirty one either. the talks went well and we had agreat time with the members. later i became sick and tossed my lunch. sucked and i laid in bed and slept woke up and tossed my lunch again and a gain and again...

FUN STUFF THE MISSION!!! im enjoying life though.things here are not as bad as they really sound. i love it. im looking forward to this change and to be able to start over new. yay!!

well thats about it... i love you guys keep it real!

May 30

hey hows it kicking? well im sad to say not much has happend here in the last little bit. were just hunting around and seeing what we can find. its a rough game but it has to be done if you want to get sucess!

this week i was out for two days with sickness... im frustraited with this! im eating healthy doing everything a person should do. drinking a ton of water. but no. i just like to be sick. the rain season has started for sure. its funny. every day at aroung 330 it starts to rain. morning never. just in the afternoon. interesting that for sure. but thats alright. my feet stay dry most days.. i have to wear my socks like ancle socks to avoid having wet feet for the afternoon. funny yes. but this rain here is nothing like utah. it poars and poars till it floods the streets. utah would flip if they had rain like this.

so whats going on in the crockett family? anything cool? didnt get anything from anyone this week. sad. oh well. thats life i guess. im doing great. i think that im getting changed this next wednesday. my knee is bugging still but oh well... life as a crockett. so big races coming up this weekend! i expect a report! ha ha

well thats about it i love you sorry for the short letter but nothing happend.

Elder crockett

mommy: things for the next box... space bags! more please!
                                                 candy always
thanks mommy!

May 23

hey well this week was alright. it was nothing out of the norm. i worked worked and worked. got soaked soaked and soaked by the rain. its strange every day in the afternoon it rains here. sucks! but this is life for the next what 6 ish months. my feet get wet no matter what i do. im just going to have to deal with that fact.

so i tried to make cookies for a family this week.. well they didnt quite work out that well... i was really embarresed because i was talking them up. i burnt them... and the lady was freaking out cause she doesnt know how to make cookies. and that i was making them wrong which i wasnt. i got fed up and took my dough and we went home... i put it in the fridge and what did i make for breakfast this morning in my toaster oven.... perfect cookies. i believe if the lady wouldnt of been on my back i could have produced good cookies... really stupid... but i did also realize my problems.... 1 the rack was to close to the bottom.. 2 i couldnt preheat the oven because ¨thats not how you make things in an oven¨ ugh.. really annoying!!! oh well...

what else.. sorry for this week its been really boring... umm im being blessed with the family knee problem!! how about that! this area is all hills and hills. it sucks. and is giving me pain at the end of the day. im getting changes in the next little bit.. 2 more weeks. i could of had them last week but i decided to stick it out. dont know if that was a good or bad thing to do...

but anyways... still waiting for the package... i think its in the office.. my zone is far away from the office so it will be a while. probably 2 more weeks... oh well.. hope everything is going good i love you!!

May 16

well im still alive if anyone really cares.. ha ha jk. but thinks here are going alright. nothing like having a migraine for a couple days here ha ha. sucks and has kept me from working a little bit. its a pain but also nice to finnally get a rest once in a while. but for no i like working. i had the oportunity to go on divisions with our district leader. that was a good time and i enjoyed talking with him and working in my area. my comp is a quiet kid and with me its harder cause i want to express my feelings and let my personality show but in spanish its really getting to be a pain to try and do that. i want people to know that im not just a silent kid... so i have a little more studing to to over here.
so while we were on divisions the latino i was with is loud and funny. one of my great friends here in the mission. we went to this house were a member lives and talked and talked to their daughter who is basically done and ready for baptism but just needs to reconize what she is feeling is the spirt. so were working on her, im making them cookies for  family home evening.. Snicker doodles.. im doing a test trial at my house with our toaster oven... so if they are good and are a sucess im going to make them... if not i bought a brownie package that i can make for them... but this should be a great way to gain the confidence of our members/the daughters...

so what more is going down here.. not alot. things are starting to get a little cooler here. and with that comes rain. yesterday we had a fairly good rain. i was trying to dodge the water from entering in my shoes but looked up and there was no where to walk. no dry land you could say... well with that i decided to just go for it and walk. well the water was about a foot deep... yup my feet got drentched. it was crap... but o well... what a fun expirence!! the mission is so great!

im looking in to buying a pair of rain boots. so next week i think ill buy them.. full rubber ha ha.. well that will be cool. im still doing good here. just getting used to the mountains that we have to climb. my knee is not liking the downhills.. sucks really! i had an interview with president maravilla and he said that i may get a change. so this week it my go down but i dont know.. if not it will be in 3 weeks. so next week i could be in a different area. wouldnt that be cool!! ha ha ... i kinda want out but we will see...

heath update. still have head aches alot. i dont know if it due to the sinus infection. but yeah. my congestion had been getting a bit worse. i have some cool looking green mucus.. sucks really!! but yeah. things are looking better really. keeping my head up and trying to get things done here. this area needs alot of work and im glad to be helping it out.. well.

that was my week things area going good keep praying for me!!

well i havent talk to you guys in a while...

Well it was great talking-to you all yesterday! It raised my spirits. Im still really sick and bed ridden. I'm thinking it's pneumonia. My favorite sickness! YAY!! No not really freak! Yeah so not much happened this week I went to Reu for a conference returned and went to bed and have been there for the last what 4 days now. I'm a wreck. Yesterday I pushed myself out if bed to go to church. Those 2 hours were pure pain and agony for me. Yeah church was only 2 hours because everyone after Sunday school got up and left. Ha ha ok that's cool I guess. What can we do then? after we went to the cemetery to dedicate a grave. I felt like I had allergies or something I could barely open my eyes and was sneezing eyes watering. Sucked a big one. When to our branch presidents house to eat lunch. That was alright but still looked and felt like death. Chicken soup. Was good the first time and the second time when I puked it up after. Called you guys and that was about it. Spelled the rest if the day/night. Woke up to coughing up flem. Tasty yellow stuff right. I wanna say it's progressed to my lungs resulting in pneumonia.
All I can say is that I honestly hate being sick!!! Ugh.
So I for got to ask for things while on the phone. So here's the list in order of my desires. Ha ga sorry for being a "wanty" kid mom. But feel free to get another box ready for my one year mark!! :) !

May 2

well im in a new area! was great talking to everyone today on email thanks! well i had changes fianally. its taking some time to get adjusted but im loving it. well heres where i have been sent. Santa Babara. its in the hottest zone in the mission. here we have a branch. really was weird going to that yesterday. my area is big with about 5 towns. kinda like a spider you could say. were living in the middle then we have to walk out to the cities. about at 2 mile walk. down hill for some. but one city is 5 miles away uphill!!! really crazy. im having the challenge here with staying hydrated. im packing my camelback with me on the long journeys and drinking up everytime i get.

My new companion is really cool. hes latino from Nicaragua. its a great time learning really how to work hard here. i havnt worked this hard in my intire mission. its awesome and i know that this is how the mission is supposed to be. im loosing weight already here which is good on my part im glad. were working hard but our challenge here is getting people to go to church. they all say they will go. out of the 10 people we challenged to go none showed up. we have a fairly big role here in this area. its great to learn more about the church and how it works too.

well this week im being blessed with the oportunity to call you guys on sunday. ill be doing a prompt call saturday in the night due to the graduation stuff. congrats mindy on that!!  but were on the same time zone now. so theres no problem with that. i love you guys my times up... well ill talk to you later this week love you and be sure to be home sunday to talk!!

April 25

well this week was alright... didnt do tomuch... we had semana santa. no not santa clause but yeah holy week with the catholics. we wernt alout to go into the streets thursday through saturday. we could only go out to go to the stake center. sucked and there we watched movies and ate pizza.. would i really like this... well maybe the ryan you all know and love but me right now... no.. i was really bored and tired. i would rather be working and visiting member before i go. but no... although throughout all of the comotion we didn have a baptism of one of my investigators that i have been waiting to baptise for 6 months now.. that really was awesome. i loved it and i got to go in for the dunk!

not a whole lot is going on here just chilling really and waiting for changes... thats this week. yeah!!!

well my mind is blank im sure next week ill have lots to share.. love you elder crockett

April 18

hey well this week was really awesome. some life lessons and such... why do i love my bishop? well ill get to that later. this week started off with delicious tacos that i made my self. and i discoverd a smoothie place in my area with dang good smoothies!  tuesday nothing really happend. wednesday i went on divisions with our zone leaders.

that really was an expirence! i got kicked out of my area and sent to the zonies area. there me and the zone leader didnt do to much work. we went to our first appointment and that fell through.. such is life though. we then went to get photocopies of some pamphlet for the zone. ate some icecream and then went back to the house.. wow what a rough life as a zone leader.  later that night we went to the stake presidents house to eat with the other missionaries who live with us. there the elders said they were going to bring investigators but came up short. the wife was said since you dont have investigators you cant eat here! the gringo elder replied well thats ok your food makes me sick anyways... yeah after that it was just funny! the wife was mad the elder too. but eventually she was telling the other missionaries how me and this togan are ´´santos´´ or holy ones! haha  really was a great night felt like eating at home.

well on to why i love my bishop. the dude saved my life you could say. me beeing the awesome adventurous  person i am i went in to a well to help dig and clean it out. well it was pretty deep wont say how deep for mommys sake but yeah. i got down there on a rope and all no problem... got down to work. we had a fan pumping air for me and the deal was 20 minutes then change.. well i had to set everything up and was down for about 45 minutes. yes i did have air. and who care now im alive. but back to the story. i worked and then remeberd im only a quarter of the way done. i have to climb out. well they lowerd the bucket i made my way up. alright i can do this... got a quarter of the way up. and was stuggling to get to the foot hold. i was litterally inches away but i couldnt do it i dropped back down into the abyss... what is going to happen to me am i going to die down here? Ah freak. another ´´search and rescue´´ expirence what is dad going to say.. NUTTY PUTTY CAVES??? haha well my bishop is about 5´4´´ 130lbs. he pulls up the buckett takes it off and ties a loop. he says hes going to pull my but fat body out. with the help of one other kid and my comp. well i said a silent prayer and heave hooo... they were pulling me out little by little... wow what strength! im probably playing with 200 lbs now sad to say. i need to run or something... but little by little my fat butt got out of there. i reached the serface and everyone including me was exhausted!! ugh! wow that really was rough and hard. i sat by a fan to suck in some air. my body just thrashed... really was a good life expirence. im not imortal. after this my bishop went down in to the cave...  he was easier to lift out! ha ha but i didnt come out clean i recived rope burn and blisters. on my hands i have about 13-15 places where skin has been ripped off and now blisterd. PARTY!!

well that happend all yesterday. wasnt that just a great expirence. after the members put some anti-bacterial stuff on my blisters and it stung and they all laughed. sucked but i really enjoyed this expirence! sorry mom but yeah was good!

hope everyone had a great week! this week were banned from entering the streets thursday till sunday. we have to wake up early and go to the stake center. fun stuff i guess! wierd being out side of the mormon ville and living in a catholic town. ill maybe snap a foto or two. but yeah great week im still alive and working hard no need to worry.

Love Elder crockett

April 11

hey whats happening in the 801? here not to much this past week. you all herd about the pig we cooked, well that was delicious. maybe for my home coming ill buy one and we can cook it up! sound good mom! ill let connor kill it! well also this week i had divisions with our District leader. he is from my group and a good missionary. we started out going to our possible people and started teaching really good lessions. we found out the chanlenge of one of the my favorite investigators that i have been teaching for about 6 months now. basically all my mission. really great and im hoping for a baptism soon. things here are great im enjoying life...

well what else happend here. i went on divisions with my bishop and we had a rocking time getting to know some members and such before i leave here soon. 2 more weeks left in this change. should be a great 2 weeks. i get to be here for the santo semana... holy week. spring break. and the weekend all the catholics have there meetings and parade thing for black jesus and such. there are comercials all over the tvs about it. it will probably be a hard week of working too. but im up for the challenge.

so spanish is coming along pretty well. im studing harder and wrote up a plan for it. so i wouldnt be surprised if im speaking like a champ in 3 months. but we will see.

Health: well my Mono is back up and fighting me hard! sucks a big one. around 2 o clock i feel like i just got done with a 6000 yrd swim workout. so its a stuggle sometimes to stay awake while studing. im enjoying life though. gotta be thankful for what you have right. i could be worse off.

Members: apparently the members here love me and dont want me to go. the primary kids found out that i leave for real this time and they were a bit upset yesterday. funny stuff.. also one family wants me to move in with them when im done with my mission too... ha funny stuff there. these Baltenecos (thats what they call themselves here.) are really cool i sure do love them! they also want me to show the relief society how to make cookies because they dont know how! so next thursday were having milk and cookies! YUM!!! yes i do know how to make cookies. also this week im putting on an activity about the 2 coming of Jesus. should be awesome. i am in the process of making a movie. so maybe ill have it posted online for you all to see. or not. but yeah im excited for that!!!

well that was my week my thoughts.... write me family! and Friends! DEAR ELDERS are good to get.

April 4

what is coche? well heres a picture! this is going to be our lunch dinner today!! im stoked,. i woke up around 5 30 this morning to help with the killing and gutting. well were having a few set back but thats ok. there are some dedicated elders who will help out and get things back online for it ha ha. well this week has been really filling

conference was really good with all the talks. although us missionaries dont like the sound of the prophet telling everyone to get married to our girlfriends we know its all about the plan that we have to soon acomplish. what an awesome plan we have take a second and think about it. thanks for the letters everyone who sent them they were great!(MINDY) really was cool!

but we were having bad reception through our satalite. guess who they came to to solve the problem? ME ha ha funny. the stake president was upset that we lost signal. so i told him find a lap top and use the internet?? wow thats so so hard! ha funny though. i have a feeling that this wont be the last time in the mission that i will be behind a computer helping someone out.

along with this week i have made some good friends. from utah. ha so many elders from there. i really have enjoyed my time out here. and looking forward to what this week brings me!

the mission is going good. i have had a fun time teaching my latino comp new games! what games?? SLUG BUG and PT Cruser bruiser! ha ha he enjoys them! also this week it rained really hard. so hard that our house got water inside... sucked but i didnt mind it really. really was funny. i was to tired to care! well that was my general confrence week! really enjoyed the talks and the leessons that week can learn from our loving prophet Thomas S. Monson! really a great guy!

well i love you all hope you enjoy the pictures!

March 28

well 8 down. 16 more. 33.33333333% ect. left of guatemala. wow does time move here and there...

this last week i have had an amazing expirence! made my mission. well. we started to teach a guy whos family are members and they are just waiting on him. i went on divisions with one of the Asistants. it was his previous investigator so he wanted to see what was up. we went to their house with one plan. fetcha! or baptismal date!  well we went in there got to know them a little then started to teach my favorite thing! the doctorine of christ. 1. faith, repentance, baptism, gift of the holy ghost, and endure to the end.

well started going on and on we asked their 10 year old daughter what do you want your dad to do? i want you to fill the baptismal font! and then we asked what would you like for your family! before i say this i just want to bag on the states for a second. kids here mature so much faster then back home. sorry but its true. she said i want to enter into the temple and be sealed to my family for eturnity. by this time i was fighting off tears the wife was crying and the little girl was crying into her fathers shoulders.

we then asked him if he wanted to follow christ and let him in to his life and he said yes.

this has been the most spiritual expirence i have had in my mission was very grateful that i was able to have this. and its helped me everyday after that. we baptized him this past sunday. yesterday! i wish you could all of been there for it. was so special! mission is great and teaching me alot.

how are things is this area? as of right now were looking around for more people! im stoked for general conference and for all the good things that come with that.

well times up really! i love you all!!

March 21

well this past week has been a good week so far.  i didnt have changes in area. 5 changes here so ill hit 7 months in this area! ugh. i really want to get out but its probably best that i am here. everything here is going great. i dont really like showing the area around for a 2nd time.

my new comp is from honduras. he has 17 months in the mission knows the doctorine and all but doesnt really know how to work. so i feel like im training. its rough. but this will probably prepare me for the time to come. hes not my favorite comp but what can you do right?

so yesterday we had a service activity. we went and chopped some wood for a family who the husbund has cancer. so us and the elders quarm went and did that for a good 2-3 hours. was great and yes i do have blisters on my hand. sucks. and after that we went to our next visit and we invited our selfs to help them load up a truck of wood and take it to their house. so yesterday was a service filled day. really felt great about it afterwords and such.

so my thoughts on this change.. well i just want to get through it. its going to be rough. dont like my comp really. but oh well. 6 more weeks i think i can pull through with it.

so march maddness is in the books. kevin told me a little bit. my bracket is in the mail. but  from what i herd my bracket is messed up from the upsets... suck! but thats what happens when you have no knowlege of stats and such. but oh well. so how are things?

im just about what 7 weeks from calling home! that will be awesome and im excited for that! i miss you all and sorry for the borring email this week. this week looks a little more promising for fun!

i love you

Elder crockett

March 14

well another change down one closer to going home... ha not really. but hey im having a great time out here. how are things at home? thats rough about japan. the lord blesseth and the lord taketh. ha  well brackets came out yesterday. im stoked and will mail mine in the mail. so i can take the win for once.  so you should get that around the finals ha ha. but yeah

this week was alright. we put on yet another activity. a tallent show. was really awesome and the ward members loved it. this ward here is really crazy and they do. i showed one of my videos off of youtube and they were all in aw,,, with my amazing powers with a camera. ha ha it was nice. but they made peope dance and basically all the organizations young mens womens primary ect. did an act. was a great turn out and our investigtors loved it. were working hard to get them to finnally comit and be baptized. but unfortunatly changes are soon and i am about 90% sure that i am leaving and i wont be able to see them be baptized. sad but thats life i guess.

changes. yep thats what i said another one gone. this one i would have to say has gone by really really fast and its incredible that its gone... but thats what i hope a mission will be like for the rest of my precious time. things here are good and i more than sure that i will be getting a latino comp. so my spanish will improve somewhat in the next little bit! so thats a plus but a downer.  still going to keep my head up of course! things could be worse!

well looks like thats another end to my week. still just chilling here in guate. hope everything is going great at home i miss you all!

March 7

disclamer... the  keyboard im using today sucks! sorry for extra spaces and what not.

well this week has been a great week of work work and just chilling at night. its getting closer and closer to rainy season. we have had a few random rain storms or in utah they would call them  floods.  here its getting better for work. and were still baptizing like champs! really cool to be reconized by my misson president for that and not a no name. well along with this week nothing really happened sorry to day.  of the   things that happend

1 i was  told that im getting fat by a member not once or twice but 3 times... really made me upset and wanted to punch the lady. she fed us dinner that night and i was stuffed to the max and there still was more to eat i protested and said no... sorry lady

2.  we got as mindy would say ´´two paydays´´ but yes us being honest missionaries are returning the extra $100 we ended up with  ha ha . we thought we  won the missionary lotto. but no

3.  we  got into our investigators house again and are going to be putting down a date for baptizm. so i hope to get that done next week.

and to top this all off. we have changes next week. so we will see how things go. im pretty sure that im going  out. and so this week is going to be a laundry filled week and packing all my  crap. seeing if it will all fit. but i have faith ha ha .

well thats all pretty much. mom have you sent my  box yet? please!!  if not anyone can send me one i may get it right before confrence and could have some confrence munchies! imagine that. but hope everything is going great there. be safe!

Feb 28

well 7 months down... what do i have to show for it this week.... well this past weekend alot happened. we had 2 baptisms and 3 confirmations met a couple new familys. also we had an activity.

Activity you ask. well my comp did this activity in his last area. we had the members bring games and we printed off fake money. Quetzalas and spiritual dollars. from there we handed out the money to the members who led the games. we had about 5 games and 2 spiritual games with a tithing. when people won the normal games they got a quet. and when they paid their tithes they recieved a spiritual.

towards the end we told everyone alright when your done with your game that your on were going to have you have an ¨interview´´ with the bishop. was fake but people thought it was real and they left... opps. but they missed out on our message. we divided the members depending on how many spiritual dollars they recieved... frome there we had a three kindoms of glory. and then when all this was said and done the bishop ´´macheted´´ the members about putting the kindom of god first. it was really good and the members loved it.

we gained alot of confidence from them from this lesson. on Sunday after our baptism we had members offer us help and service. was a great confidence builder and i will probably do this in all my new areas.

anyways. how are things going at home. here its the same old its awesome not having to worry about all the worldly things and such. really love this. now if my spanish was where i want it that would be another things. but ists progressing everyday.

well thats it for this week. only one thing.. package has it been sent yet if not CADBERY EGGS! and REESES! the candy... not our dog. but yeah friends can help out with that too dont be shy!

i love you all have a great time!! love ELDER CROCKETT

Feb 21

well my birthday has come and past. this past week has been a really good one! we have had a very busy week here in samala. first off tuesday we started off with a marrige! 1st one in the mission. that was really an interesting expìrence. and it was very nice to see our ward welcome them into the ward. the bishop bought a bunch of presents for the family and distrubuted them to the members and they gave them to the family. they felt the wards love in this.

well my birthday. started off by waking up and getting ready for the weekly planning meeting. me and my comp planned then went to the store to buy some food. after that we went home. there was still no power so we couldnt shower or do anything really. that was our first challenge for us here. one of the members was giving us options for where we could baptize the people... a river near by the stake center or a pool in a local hotel. well we called the bishop and he told us that he would steal the generator of the stake center so that we could use our building.... close to baptizing in a river. but it would be a sucky atmosphere for the people... so anyways we left to pick up two of our baptisms... the sister in law told us that she wasn´t there and that the day before our investagtor told her mom she was getting baptized and she freaked. she took her to a ´´spirutual circle´´ to clense here.. well that so called spritual circle is a witchcraft organization... we havent been able to get back into her house or talk to her. after that we left for the church to fill the font and then waited for our other investigators... there we waited and waited. eventually our family came! and our other one too. was really cool we didnt get our 9 but we got six...

and now your woundering why soap for the subject... well one of the familys for my birthday gave me a present.. i felt it up thinking i was a pro at feeling presents for all the times laying under the christmas tree... well i thought it was chocolate. no... was not.  i opened the box all excited for candy and no... was a 3pack of soap... i know in the states that means i smell.. but here what does it mean??? well i dont know i probably do smell...

that night me and my comp borrowed the keys from the bishop and made some cookies in the church since we dont have an oven.. they were soo good. so if you have the chance to feel free to send me the cookies or muffin packs that only need water or an egg!

as for now my week have been going by really good it amazes me that i am already half way done with the change.. time is flying here. its amazing and im enjoying it! how is everything going at home? everything the same... how is the sports life going?  i herd there is an up roar about jimmer in provo...

well hope everything is good i love you all stay safe feel free to drop me a letter if you want if not oh well thats how mission life goes.

Feb 14

Well another great week come and gone. why does the time have to go so fast when you have a cool companion?... we're really working hard in our area and getting results. i am really happy to say that this week we have a lot planned for my birthday and just fun activities too. im going to wait til next week to send you the picture and such of all the exciting adventures.

so what happened this last week? we taught, taught, and challenged people for baptism. this past week we challenged everyone on the first lesson. it really helps people get to church. at church yesterday we had 12 investigators! thats unheard of here in this area. our bishop is doing everything in his power to help us out and have a good week filled with baptisms. our ward is really excited too for this. we really didnt gain their trust with my last companion. he was too serious and bleh... now we have two goofy white guys and everyone loves us. its hard not to go to church here and not have a little kid jump on me or running at me. its way cool and i love this area. i just hope that i get more time in this area!

Yesterday was the first real random rain... it poured and poured and poured!!! was cool but after the rain it got really hot and nasty. yeah its already like that but its whatev. also yesterday we had a primary avtivity and we went with our investigating family and their kids. was so much fun for the first little bit then all the kids were getting on my nerves and i was getting a head ache. so i bascially had no energy or patience. i tried to be happy but no didnt work.... but was fun while it lasted. we had great success and a great time.

so for this week we're having 9 baptisms. one family of 5 and 4 investigators. im so excited for it. we are in the running for the top baptizing missionaries in the mission. just gotta keep finding more people to bless their lives.

how are things back home? hope everything is great. happy 30th ma and pop! was good hearing from everyone this week thanks for all the letters!!! i love you all and be safe. next week i should have some pictures from my birthday activites here so you can look forward to that!

i love you all be safe

Feb 7

well this last week were changes. i really was afraid of what could happen to me here. and what things i could get my self into. well at the change meeting my area popped up along with my old comps picture... his picture fadded and my new comps came up. i scored a gringo from utah. the kid has 4 months in the mission but hes the sr comp. fine by me the kid knows spanish perfectly due to living in mexico and his mom is colombian. so we have really worked hard in my area to revive things and get fetchas. or dates for people. were working on a family right now who the husband has lymphoma.

this past week we have had a great time. i feel like a new missionary! i have a new energy and ahhh just good. this week we have a good week planned and working hard. tomorrow morning were chopping wood for the cancer family and just trying to help out all that we can to ease them into the font. ha ha

also for all my friends.. feel free to send me letters i wouldnt mind getting a flood of letters from you guys.

how the weather in utah things here are really hot and getting hotter. im hoping for the rain! but that wont happen for a while. well the super bowl come and gone... im not saying i watched any of it but i was excited for the green bay win. i wore my greenbay jersey to pday sports was good. well thats another week down the drain sorry for the short letter we have things that need to get taken care of here. i love you all and pray for you!!

Jan 31

well this week are changes... i found out that i dont have a change but my companion does.... its going to be fun i guess... im excited for it. i love my comp but i also really want to work. the kid is a baggie or trunky. but we will see what happens. im really excited for this. this past week i had 2 baptisms.. i would send you pictures but that will have to wait till next week. this week were planning my birthday with some members. i may have a baptism on my birthday too. were working that out.. but this past week was really good. i have had a great time with planning the baptism and getting things done... so hows are the things going at home.... sorry that this weeks letter is short but i dont have that much time due to my pday activities.

today we started out with going up north to do what???? to go mini golfing. i didnt know how much fun that could really be! i enjoyed it and took 2and place by one stroke... dang... but thats alright. i may return some time soon.... was a great time and i enjoyed my time with out the comp... gringos are awesome... sorry latinos... thats just what happens..

well sorry for this weeks letter i will be sure to fill you in on all the crazy good stuff that is going on in my area and about the new companion...  i love you all and hope that you have a great time!!!! love elder crockett

Jan 24

well ill be hitting the quarter mark in my mission in 4 days. thats exciting but also scary. i like being out here and time is going by really fast.

so to start this week off i had divisions with another elder from the dominican rep. was a good time and he taught me to step up and not to take crap from my comp as i do. was a really good time. the fair in sanse hit. was really fun and dangerous. there were so so so many drunks in the streets so we stayed in the house on of the nights. that night the neighbors were blasting music and fireworks were all over yet again. this city likes to party. with the fair comes a food that is really ´´good´´ its called Chojin (cho-hing) its a soup with some meat carrots and this green veg. i dont know the name of... but the day of the fair i had 3 bowls of it.... im glad to say that its a one time of year thing for me ....  the fair is slowly dying off here which is good for our progression and finding people looking for the work.

so here we have what is called noche de mandimento. its basically a FHE with the ward. well i got picked for the lesson. all i can say is that i was terrified but i planned a good lesson apparently. D&C 88 119, about establishing diffrent houses. was a good learning about that and about how well i have progressed in spanish... this week was a little rough for me. but i try to keep my head up and keep going.

well know how i talked about iguana last week. well saturday the family had them again... freak!! they killed 3 of them and cooked the eggs for us. taste the same like a chicken egg but was i hungry after seeing the process of slitting the throught of it... not really. but thats life i guess..  then they invited us to dinner on sunday... well that night i told the DL that i wanted divisions for this night. so he could enjoy the iguana. so thats what happend. so a blessing for me there ha ha..

this week not alot planned just going on with our plans. we have a baptism schedualed and such this weekend so im stoked for that. i still cant belive that im a quater done with this... crazy but i know there is still work to be done here!

i love you all and hope everything in chilly utah is going good

elder crockett...

ps its not to late to send me birthday cards! hint hint

Jan 17

this week was interesting... what did i do you ask? well last night we had iguana again.... well i prepared my mind and told my self go for it. well i ate that sucker.. was good and yes it did ¨taste like chicken¨ was fairly good.  so this week what else happened

well i went of divisions with the zone leaders. that was really a good expirence. i was with a gringo. so i could speak my feelings and vent out to him about life.. but hes a dead missionary at the begining of february. i learned alot from him with things that my comp has not taught me and stuff like that. also i went on divisions with a kind in our ward. we encounterd a person digging there well. so me being on a service high. i went to help out for 3 hours. was a lot of fun. the mom and kids go to church but the husband no. so it was a great oportunity to serve. i sure enjoyed it.

also this week we were teaching a lesson in the morning. i had a hard morning in the gym and to say the least i was dosing the whole lesson. and durring the movie that we showed i fell asleep for about a minute then felt a kick of my comp... well i learned on thing that i can no longer have hard days in the gym except for pday for the oprtunity that we have to sleep here and there.

this week we may have a baptism! so work is getting better little by little. im starting to get over my fear and talking to people. i decided i don´t care anymore and want to get better and be a tool in the lords hands. i have been doing a lot of studing this week in the liahona. man President Monson is hammering people about missionary work. glad and serving my time. ha ha. no but really i really love my mission and its going by fast. before i know it ill be home and starting life. crazy. yeah ill stay here in guate for now. things here are nice and cozy.

so this week and next week is the fair in San Sebastion. so in our area we have 2 ferris wheels and venders like none other. its cool. and every night there are fireworks. people here are crazy. but i really like this city. they are very cultrual and wear cortés. or skirts you could say. but is really cool. and i hear that this city is really the only city that wears them.

weather is getting hotter day by day but the nights are cold.... dont know the temperature. maybe ill buy a thermometor... hmmm well my birthday is coming up!! so you should flood letters and packages my way that would be a good day to come to.

well i hope everything is going great! i love all of you!

Jan 11

how is everyone doing over there? and hows all the cold weather? i really miss all the snow at times but its alright. hows the new year for everyone?

this week has been a little rough for me and my comp. were trying to find investigators but its hard with all the parties that go on from christmas to new years and now the big party of the city starts this week so there will be oportunities for contacting but i just hope people are looking for the word! we weiill see... also this week has been rough. one of our members who we reactivated has a tumor thats going to take his life. and has the family had a visit from the ward.... NO... im really pushing on getting home teaching done in this ward. its one thing that stook out to me when uncle gordy was president here. i know that it will help out a tone here. so we have been trying to help the family out with there problems. that has really been the story of the week. we just need to find mre people. thats all it comes down too.

this week nothing really fun planned but contacting contacting teaching slaughtiering spanish (and english apparently) and just trying to survive out here.  things are always rough at times but just trying to stay positive with all that i do. so this week will be my 2nd week with the gym.. i think im loosing some weight wich is good. im hoping to get down another 5 to 6 lbs by the end of the change in the 1st week in february before my bday. hey speaking of that you should all write me a letter or send packages? hummm good idea yeah? well times up and i need to write president marivilla. i love you all and hope your enjoying the snow and cold weather! be safe read the book of mormon and write in a journal!!

Jan 3

well another year closer to the second coming... ha any ways to start the week off.. new years was fun. was similar to christmas with eating tamales. gross and chill-axing around the house. i ate at a local Chinese food place and wrote letter out to a few people. just need to get envelops now. at mid night the sky was really beautiful with all the fireworks and such. after the fireworks i wanted to sleep.... well the stupid drunk neighbor was blasting music ALL night long i could barely sleep and was a rough night.
ill attach a picture or two... the next morning we went out to get our money for the month out of the ATM. yay for pay day. well the atm we visited was in our area which is conveniently located by a burger king!! the only one in REU. well i made a stop for a good chocolate shake. was great and reminded  me of mom and when we would get them after a dentist appointment...
well after that we went to WOON WOON. a chinese place. really good and what was on the tv... Lord of the Rings 3. ugh. was a good time eating and such.

also this week for service we helped a member dig a well. was a good experience. it was after church and had a group of elders go. me and my comp went to give support. well they were all joking about us going in to the well with our shirts and ties. well i ended up helping out and digging a good 2ft. was really good but i have a great blister on my hand now.. ugh.

the work here is getting better. my comp decided to shut down and let me lead the way for everything. which is annoying at times but i am learning alot from this experience and getting ready to train. i feel it coming faster than i know. i just need get down and study more..

so today we went to the ruins in another area.. was really cool and i was excited until i found out they charge more for a foreigner. and the ruins weren't all that great. but its a once in a life time chance really was great taking pictures they also had a zoo. which is of the picture of the monkey. i gave him my tie. was really funny but that thing had a really strong grip! ha was a good time though. i learned alot about ancient architecture  the ruins dated back to 150AD. was cool but i wish i could see the city in its prim that would be cool. reminded  me of the hike me and davy took and how places used to be a big hustle and bustle but now are nothing.

this week i should have a good time. time is really going by fast. and before i know it this change will be over. good times
if there is anything you wanna know let me know

Dec 27

well as you all pretty much know im doing great here in guate and just having a chill christmas. i told kevin about this expirence and forgot to tell everyone else... any who the 24 we got together as a zone and went to the hospital to sing christmas carols and such to the people. i was thinking awesome the hospital mindy love the hospital and will be jealous of me... well i stept in the the building and just felt like death in there. i think there are some bad things/ spirits in there. we sang and sang. the hospiital was really nasty and dirty so be thankful for what you have in the states. my house is cleaner than that hospital was. anyways we sang and sang was really a cool expirence i enjoyed it.

christmas was basically newyears for the states. at midnight the whole city of San Sebastion was filled with fireworks and drunks. was funny but really cool too... i really loved talking to you all. and sorry i didnt call back in the night. all the tiendas were closed by the time my comp was done with the phone so i couldnt buy minutes. but o well we can all wait another 5 months. thats not to long now.. time is really going by fast. it was this time last year that i started working at the KING. and wow just really went fast. i hear thats how the mission is. so we will have to see how that goes.
yesterday we had another baptism! was really cool. then we went and did service for our recent convert with  some of the ward members. was really good and i think it had a positive impression on him and will help him stay on task.

hmmm i dont know what more to really say things here are really normal. this week we have double PDAY! so saturday ill get to sit around and sleep. ha ha anyways untill next week!

Dec 20

hey well this week was really good. first off i got my pacages thanks mommy they are awesome. i swear i have gained at least 5lbs since tuesday! really good. the people here like my starburst. and im thinking on christmas about making muffins. hmmm just need the keys to the church which isnt to hard for me to get as long as i dont have a change in areas.

this week was packed with stake activites and our mission christmas party. tuesday was our mission party. it was filled with a devotional and then we ate. then performed skits. well the food was great no problems eating it. but i think the night before i ate some bad food. i had the worst stomach cramps.... i literally could not move and had a feaver. sucked and after i got my delicious pacages i went to bed while my comp was out with another kid for divisions. i had really bad hersey squirts... ill just end it at that.

next day was our district meeting and i still was suffering from the pains. but yeah... then the next day we had our stake activity. ´´blanca navidad´´ or for you spanish challenged people. white christmas. it was our zones baptism day. me and my comp had two people back out and that sucked but one has a date set which its going to be next week sometime. anywho we had 2 baptisms. was a good time.

the next morning we had a stake activity so our zone was all togther again. i like when we get together because i can talk to other people and such. in english. just another oportunity to relieve stress and get to express my feelings and such. so thats really all that i have done this week. sorry it was borring. i find out tonight about changes. i think i may be sent to another area. but who knows.  things are going good and time is flying. its almost been about 5 months that i have been out. crazy!!  but i dont know when im going to call in the morning sometime... but yeah i hope you all have a good week and ill talk to you christmas.
